Nature’s genome is the greatest library ever created. But it is disappearing without having been read. At Humble Bee Bio, we created something valuable from existing biodiversity, and we’re committed to giving back.
Despite making up only 5% of the global population, it is estimated that 80% of global biodiversity exists within Indigenousmanaged lands. Indigenous peoples play a vital role in preserving and restoring biodiversity, but their work is underresourced.
It’s why environmental guardianship is written into our company’s constitution. As we build partnerships with indigenous-led conservation organisations, a share of every Silk Doctrine sale is being set aside to fund that work.

I grew up between London and Aotearoa, New Zealand — swimming in rivers, swinging on a rope ladder under a sky so clear I imagined flying through it. In London, I couldn’t swim in the rivers, couldn’t see the stars, could barely stand to drink the water. At 6, I knew something was wrong.
At 7, I started my first business.
By my 20s, I understood my calling: environmental guardianship through entrepreneurship. My education in science showed me the potential to innovate with biology. From a humble bee, Humble Bee Bio was born. Through this biomimetic platform we are using business as a tool for positive impact and building shareholder value.
